Day 120~

So, it's not the best quality picture.
I had my camera settings set for outside when Superman snapped it.
But, here's my new exercise routine... walking on the treadmill with my laptop in front of me!
Man, it makes the time go much more quickly!
Superman is an absolute genius for setting it up for me!

Day 119~

Just a pretty shot in the kitchen this evening.

Day 118~

As someone who had no clue how to cook when I got married, I think it's important to start your children out early in the kitchen
Cooking is an important life skill!
I usually try to only work with one child at the time.
I love the time spent with them, and they don't seem to mind it either.
(Thank heavens!)
Cameron has declared himself our 'Official Grater'.
We never know what shape it will be.
He gets a little carried away with the grater options.
I'm loving cheese slices with my salads these days!
Thank you, Cam!
I love your help!

Day 117~

new George plants...

Day 116~

Have I ever mentioned how expensive it is to take the littlest joy grocery shopping with me?
I went in for some laundry detergent, and came out with two bags of groceries.

Day 115~

Just a sampling of what I'm reading right now.
Well, to be perfectly honest, I'm reading 3 of them myself.
School's Out is the first in a series I want to read to the joys. (More on that series here.)
It all started out when I went to the bookstore for one book, all because of this post.
Hello, my name is Dana, and I'm a book addict.
If you have any doubt, just ask Superman!
Or better yet, come look at the 10 boxes of books still sitting in our garage waiting to be unpacked.

Day 114~

For two years I've been so lucky to have one of my old college roommates living nearby.
I'm so proud of her for finishing law school!!!
But I'm so sad to see her move back to N.C.!
Feeling all sorts of regrets for not making even more time to spend with her.
It's been the chance of a lifetime to have her and her family so close by!

Day 113~

Obviously they think they own the place!

Thursday, April 22, 2010

Day 112~

First homemade ice cream of the year!
YUM!

We made banana splits.

Hopefully the fact that I started walking on the treadmill today will help with all those yummy calories I consumed!

Wednesday, April 21, 2010

Day 111~

One more project crossed off the to-do list!
Superman found and repaired the leaks in the fountain.
He's a keeper!

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

Day 110~

According to Superman and the joys, this is perfectly acceptable table top decor!
Lord help me!
:)

No words to describe just how amazing it was to witness this precious little one as she made her entrance into the world...

Day 107~ Home

As part of my 35 Things While 35, I wanted to photograph my childhood hometown.
I thought I could click-click-click and capture all of those important images that are burned into my memory.
I was wrong!
In fact, it's becoming such an emotional journey, that I will stretch it out over the next several visits home.

These are all that remain of the Gulf, and later BP, sign that lit the night sky in our once sleepy little town.

My grandpa owned this station, and later my dad and uncle took over.

But as with all things, time passes and things change.

New regulations forced small business owners to either make expensive upgrades or close down.

We were the later. This bar once covered the locks. Paw Paw's motto was "We may doze, but we never close."

He chewed out more than one employee for having the audacity to even so much as close that door... even in the winter. When if the truth be told, it wasn't for the sake of audacity. It was for sheer warmth.

Now locks are the norm. I loved this cash register as a child.
Knowing the special way to work the lever and twist the handle in order to make the drawers pop open and chime made me feel so proud. It was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen with it's brown patina, until a well-meaning employee decided to 'clean it up'.

To be such a priss now, most people would never believe that my hands are capable of hooking up to a chassis, working these levers, winding the winch, and loading a car on the rollback. Though Dad meant for us to behave as ladies, time spent with him meant learning what he doing at the time.
And though I felt choked up the whole time I hid behind my lens remembering how much I loved this place, and although it breaks my heart to see it so empty and dead, my spirit soared to see these two help an elderly man who pulled in with a flat tire.
It was as if I could feel a little of the life that Central Garage once breathed!

Day 106

Every year Grammy comes in town to go with us to see Disney on Ice.
It was a great show, yet again!
And kudos to our fabulous field trip coordinator who scored us front row tickets for $11 each!
What a great day!
Although, I'm wondering if I'll ever get a shot of both my joys with smiles at the same time!
Why is that so hard?

Day 105~ Yearbook Page

Had our homeschool small group meeting tonight.
Finished our yearbook page!

Yay!!!

Day 104~

Superman picked up and set up my new freezer today.
(Have I mentioned lately how much I love that man???)
I brought home all that yummy grass-fed, organic meat from my trip to Tennessee this weekend.
So tickled to finally be able to stock up on some good, healthy meat to feed my family!

ALSO, we're starting a buyers' club to buy meat from this particular farmer at Laurel Creek Farm.
So, if you're local and interested in getting more info, please contact me!
I'm so excited to start this co-op, and I'd love to have you join us!
You can also check out his website here.

Day 103 ~ For Ginny

Fresh squeezed orange juice by Wyatt.
Yum!
We bought OJ today, and also made fresh squeezed.
Our taste-test concludes that there is no comparison between fresh squeezed and carton OJ.
Fresh squeezed is the BEST!
(This post is for Ginny, my dear friend from back home, who facebooked -yes that is a verb now- me to let me know I'm way behind in posting.)
She is so right! I think I'm going to start back posting each day with my current pics, and just adding in the older ones from when the computer crashed as I can get to them!
THANK YOU, GINNY!
Love and miss you!!!

Day 102~

Today was the joys' last day for Boys' Club.
They studied space this year, and loved it!
Their culminating activity included rocket launches.
To say they were thrilled would be an understatement!

Sunday, April 11, 2010

Day 101~

Dear North Carolina,
Thank you for naming a town after me!
I'm honored!
Love,
Dana- The Original

Day 100~

This precious little thing modeled the dress she made as one of her school projects this year.
I've threatened to steal her and take her home with me, but I think her family would come looking for her.
She's all sorts of wonderful!

Friday, April 9, 2010

Day 99~

Felting...
um, I'm not very good at it.
But I'm pretty decent at taking pictures.
Thus, me behind the camera instead of at the table crafting!

Thursday, April 8, 2010

Day 98~

6 gals
1 Suburban
300 miles
6 hours
1 food stop
2 coffee stops
multiple highway detours from rock slides
=
completely worth it for a girls' weekend

Day 97~

Dear I-385 Southbound,
I miss you!

Tuesday, April 6, 2010

Day 96~

My sweet, once-sleepy hometown of Central, SC would not be what it is today if it weren't for trains.
It was formerly the central connecting point between Charlotte, NC, Atlanta, GA, and the port of Charleston, SC, thus it's name- Central.
Though I've been gone for nearly 20 years, it is still my home sweet home.
You can see more of my attempt to photograph my hometown here.

Monday, April 5, 2010

Day 95~

Off to visit a childhood friend.
Two things I love about being back home: lush green pastures and nearly no pine trees!

Sunday, April 4, 2010

Day 94~

Midnight.
Just pulled in at Mom's & Dad's with the boys.
Tomorrow Nannie will be 94!
Ahhhhh, home!
(I normally don't need at GPS to get home, but road construction forced me to need another route.)

Saturday, April 3, 2010

Day 93~

So, I know this post should be about Easter and Easter eggs, but I'm stuck on Superman's super-sexy hands!
Seriously y'all, his hands make me weak in the knees!
They are all sorts of strong!
Like, crush my fingers in his hands strong...
like, hasn't met a jar he can't open strong!
Swoooooooonnnnn!
And my heavens, this boy, if he gets any cuter or sweeter or kinder, I just may have to lock him away and not let any little gal near him!
If I could clone him, I'd have a house full of Camerons!
Seriously! And the littlest joy, who looks like his Daddy but acts like his Mama, well I'm quite sure if we cloned him, the world would be in trouble!
Bless his heart!
I'm keeping him forever, too, but one Wyatt is all this world can handle!
Trust me!

Friday, April 2, 2010

Day 92~

Getting things ready to dye Easter eggs tomorrow- four dozen eggs should be enough.

Day 91~

Our girls' weekend is just a few days away.
This time we're going to try our hand at felting.
Last time I learned to sew, and we made aprons.
The crafts are always fun, but nothing is quite as wonderful as the time with my girlfriends!
